Job summary

Wellcome Sanger Institute in Hinxton invites a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Martin group. You will work on genetic and multi-omic projects to understand early-life traits and biomarkers for perinatal conditions, leveraging large-scale datasets and cfDNA approaches.

The role offers hybrid working near Cambridge, access to top sequencing capacity, and collaboration with UK and Nordic groups to advance the genetics of neonatal health.

Qualifications

• PhD in statistics, genetics, genomics, proteomics or related field.
• Experience analysing large-scale high-throughput human genetic, epigenetic or proteomic data.
• Knowledge of statistical methods for large-scale omics research.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R, and Unix/Linux.
• Experience with AI tools to improve research productivity.
• Strong, reproducible code written with Git/GitHub, Snakemake/Nextflow or similar.
• Creative, independent and collaborative problem solver.

Responsibilities

• Analyze large-scale proteomic data from birth cohorts to identify biomarkers.
• Explore genetic and epigenetic data to understand neonatal conditions.
• Carry out well-powered genetic studies using large datasets.
• Collaborate across UK and Nordic groups and contribute to multi-omics integration.
