Job summary

The Qing Laboratory at Oxford is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join a NERC-funded programme focused on advancing nanopore technologies for real-time detection of biogenic VOCs.

This project sits at the interface of chemistry and environmental science, developing end-to-end chemical workflows for nanopore-based VOC analysis in collaboration with environmental scientists to support ecosystem monitoring and environmental diagnostics.

Qualifications

• PhD (or near completion) in chemistry, chemical biology, environmental chemistry, or a related field.
• Strong background in molecular sciences—particularly organic or physical chemistry.
• Experience in covalent or supramolecular chemistry, or single-molecule biophysics would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop end-to-end chemical workflows for nanopore-based VOC analysis.
• Collaborate with environmental scientists to apply molecular sensing approaches to ecosystem monitoring and environmental diagnostics.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary research at the chemistry–environmental science interface.
