Job summary

University of Bath is seeking a skilled postdoctoral researcher to study molecular behaviour in zeolite catalysts for sustainable aviation fuels, combining heterogeneous catalysis with in situ spectroscopy.

The role focuses on adsorption, diffusion and site interactions within zeolite micropores, using FTIR/DRIFTS and catalytic testing. Based at Harwell, you will gain experience across multiple techniques and engage with national facilities and industrial partners.

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate will have experience in the use of vibrational spectroscopy to study the adsorption of molecules into porous materials.
  • Ideally experience in synthesis and characterisation of zeolite catalysts.
  • Excellent technical skills with strong organisational, communication and presentation abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct catalysis experiments including fixed-bed reactor testing and in situ FTIR/DRIFTS spectroscopy to probe adsorption and reaction intermediates.
  • Work at Harwell with integration of experimental work and molecular simulation.
  • Collaborate with UK Catalysis Hub partners and contribute to related events and activities.
