Job summary

The University of Cambridge’s HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Centre of Islamic Studies invites applications for a three-year Postdoctoral Research and Outreach Associate in Islamic art, architecture and/or material culture. The role combines independent research with outreach activities, including collaboration with the Fitzwilliam Museum, the University Library and local schools.

The appointee should have a PhD by September 2027 and demonstrate an upward research trajectory.

Qualifications

• PhD awarded by the start date or within a short postdoc window
• Early-career researcher with potential for an upward trajectory
• Experience with Islamic art, architecture or material culture preferred (outreach a plus)

Responsibilities

• Develop and pursue a research project in Islamic art, architecture and/or material culture.
• Design and run outreach activities that engage beyond academia, in collaboration with museums and schools.
• Collaborate with UK and international partners; may contribute to teaching within the Centre of Middle Eastern Studies.
