Job summary

The University of Cambridge's Faculty of Divinity seeks an Assistant Professor in Islamic Philosophy to start 1 September 2027. The appointee will teach across the Undergraduate Tripos, Advanced Diploma and the MPhil, supervise doctoral students and contribute to administrative duties.

Applicants should hold a doctorate in Islamic Philosophy and demonstrate a strong research record or clear potential in Medieval Islamic Philosophy, with teaching in Qur'anic Arabic and ongoing curricular design

Qualifications

• PhD in Islamic Philosophy and a strong research record or clear potential in Medieval Islamic Philosophy.
• Ability to teach on the Undergraduate Tripos, Advanced Diploma and the MPhil.
• Experience supervising doctoral students and undertaking academic administration.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 40–48 lecture hours across three terms.
• Teach in Qur'anic Arabic and at least one MPhil module.
• Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver Islamic Studies teaching.
• Undertake College teaching for additional remuneration and supervise doctoral students.
