Job summary

The University of Oxford invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Colloid Physics in the Krishnan Lab, Chemistry Department. The role focuses on measuring interactions in colloidal systems using optical methods, with emphasis on soft matter, microscopy, imaging and data analysis.

The post is full-time (37.5 hours per week), fixed-term for up to 12 months, based in the Chemistry Research Laboratory, Mansfield Road, Oxford.

Qualifications

• PhD in a related field or near completion.
• Strong interest in soft matter physics with expertise in microscopy, optical imaging and data analysis.
• Experience and expertise in optical trapping and in building or modifying experimental setups for optical imaging, trapping and force measurement.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment; excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply experimental techniques to study colloid interactions; analyse results and contribute to publications and presentations.
• Work within an interdisciplinary environment, developing experimental methods and contributing to collaborative projects.
• Communicate research findings clearly and support junior colleagues; manage a discrete area of a project when needed.
