Job summary

The University of Manchester invites applications for a senior postdoctoral position to model cellulose oligomer self-assembly in the plant cell wall, combining molecular modelling, machine learning, and high-performance computing.

The successful candidate will also help supervise MSc/PhD students, contribute to manuscript drafting, and support health and safety, with informal enquiries to Prof Steve Eichhorn.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in computational chemistry, computational materials science or a related discipline.
• Proven research skills demonstrated in relevant projects.
• Scientific scripting/programming abilities.
• Experience in molecular dynamics simulations of polymers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct high-quality, publishable research on molecular modelling of cellulose and related materials (e.g. plant cell wall polymers).
• Analyse and interpret data, contributing to the scientific direction of the project.
• Prepare and present regular progress reports.
