Job summary

University of Manchester invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in synthetic chemistry, polymer membranes and molecular transport. The successful candidate will work with Dr Ashok Keerthi in the Department of Chemistry to develop ultra-thin polymer-based membranes and PIMs for ionic gating and separations, with expected publication output.

We seek a PhD holder with strong experimental skills, capable of independent work, and excellent English communication.

Qualifications

• PhD in synthetic chemistry, polymer science or membranes with experimental work.
• Strong publication record in internationally peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience with electrochemical measurements and precision electrical meters.
• Experience in nanofabrication and ultrathin membranes or 2D materials devices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct original research and collaborate within the group and internationally as per project needs.
• Develop research objectives and proposals for own or joint research with a mentor if required.
• Conduct individual and collaborative research projects.
• Write up research work for publication.
• Communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically.
