Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie in Kelso to deliver letters and parcels with a Royal Mail van and on foot. You’ll work a rotating shift, 30 hours per week, across Monday to Sunday, with training provided and a uniform supplied.

Requirements include a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points), willingness to drive daily, fitness to walk long distances, and reliability. The role is outdoors in all weather, offering a sense of community and a rewarding routine.

Job type: Permanent

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 10:30/16:30*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
