Job summary

Royal Mail in Glasgow is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a permanent role. You will deliver letters and parcels in Glasgow, working a 30-hour week on a rotating schedule, including some weekends. Training, a uniform, and a red van are provided.

The role is outdoor, active, and requires a full UK driving licence. You’ll be paid £13.68 per hour with overtime and a rotating shift across 5 days in 7.

Working hours: 30 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 9:30/16:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Glasgow G13 and G14 Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
