Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Eltham is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed term 9-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels from the Eltham Delivery Office, with a 32-hour week and a rotating schedule over Monday to Sunday.

Wage is £16.24 per hour, paid monthly, with paid overtime available. The role involves sorting, delivering by van and on foot, and building relationships with customers outdoors in all weathers.

Qualifications

• Full training provided, uniform supplied, and a Royal Mail van provided.
• Full UK manual driving licence required (max 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated with good organisation and resilience in a busy environment.
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service.
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Working hours: 32:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday -09:00/15:00

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at Eltham Delivery Office from 13:00 to 19:00.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:
