Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Coleshill. The role is a fixed-term 12-month contract, 30 hours per week, with weekend work and an 08:30–14:30 schedule. You will deliver letters and parcels, walking and driving, in all weather and communities.

You’ll receive full training, a uniform, and a Royal Mail van. The position requires a full UK driving licence, fitness for long walks, and reliability in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10 kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work outdoors, independently and in a busy environment.
• Strong organisation and resilience with a customer-focused approach.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 12 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 08:30/14:30*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Saturdays and Sundays.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
