Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Bexhill-on-Sea to deliver letters and parcels on a 30-hour week, with a 6-month fixed-term contract. You'll work 5 days in 7, including Sundays, with early starts and outdoor duty in all weather, and a rotating shift schedule.

You'll need a full manual UK driving licence, be physically fit, reliable, customer-focused, and able to pass a driving assessment. Full training provided, with benefits and pension where applicable.

Location: Bexhill On Sea Delivery Office, TN40 1AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30.00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 09:00/16:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays between 12:00 and 18:00.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
