Royal Mail Group is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in London. You will sort mail at the depot, then deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, while building strong customer relationships.

The role is outdoors in all weather and involves a rotating shift, including weekends, with a fixed term contract of 9 months. You’ll receive full training and a uniform, with a 37-hour week and a starting rate of £16.24 per hour plus paid overtime.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

  About you

  We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

  • A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
  • Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
  • Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
  • Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
  • Comfortable working outdoors and independently
