We know you’ll work hard to make WHSmith a success and keep our customers happy. Along with your salary, pension scheme, paid annual leave, and employee discounts, we offer a range of deals from retail partners to help you save money and create memories—whether it's a delicious meal, an adventurous day out, or tickets to see the latest blockbuster.
Our Employee Assistance Programme provides support and guidance for your wellbeing—physical, mental, or financial—whatever the future brings.
About us:
WHSmith has been a staple of the High Street and in our customers’ hearts for over 230 years. Our stores aim to make customer and colleague journeys in life possible, celebrating milestones with cards and gifts, providing escape and education through our books, and facilitating communication and currency exchange in our Post Office Stores.
WHSmith is proud to be an inclusive employer. We want our colleagues to feel welcome and free to be themselves.
Position is offered on a Temporary to Permanent basis, with ad-hoc overtime.
Contracted hours are 8 hours per week (2 x 4-hour shifts), with a minimum availability of 16 hours (2 full days, 09:00-17:30). Saturday availability is essential, as shifts are worked as needed.
Overtime is regularly available during holiday weeks, up to 30 hours per week in branch.
If you can travel to other stores, you can secure more hours with paid travel expenses (discussed during interview). Nearby stores include Congleton and Macclesfield. Travel can be by train or fuel reimbursement.
You will need to remain calm in high-pressure environments. At Hanley, we mainly deal with passport applications and driving licenses, so attention to detail and counting skills are essential, especially as we also handle banking services for local businesses.
