Job Description Summary

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and collaborative research team within the SoilX laboratory, contributing to groundbreaking research projects and gaining significant professional and academic development opportunities.

Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct original research focused on Machine Learning methodologies applied to soil subsurface assessment.
  2. Develop innovative algorithms and analytical methodologies for accurate characterization and evaluation of soil subsurface conditions.
  3. Actively collaborate with peers and team members within the SoilX laboratory to ensure integrated and cohesive research outcomes.
  4. Provide technical guidance and support to other graduate and undergraduate students engaged in related research within the SoilX lab.
  5. Regularly document research progress, analyze results, and prepare comprehensive reports.
  6. Write, edit, and contribute to the publication of scholarly articles and conference papers based on research findings.
  7. Participate in lab meetings, presenting research progress and engaging in collaborative discussions and critiques.
  8. Stay current with the latest developments and methodologies in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and soil science literature relevant to the research.
Qualifications:
  1. PhD or advanced graduate-level training in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
  2. Demonstrated proficiency in Machine Learning techniques and algorithm development.
  3. Strong analytical and programming skills (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB).
  4. Previous experience in geosciences, environmental science, or soil science is highly desirable.
  5. Proven ability to produce scholarly publications.
  6. Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
  1. Familiarity with applications of Machine Learning to geospatial data and subsurface characterization.
  2. Experience working in interdisciplinary research teams.
  3. Track record of peer-reviewed publications and presentations at academic conferences.
