University of Strathclyde invites applications for a Research Associate to join an industrially funded project led by AFRC and RCNDE. The role focuses on developing a laser ultrasound array system for real-time, remote, couplant-free ultrasonic microstructural characterisation of metallic parts using AI.
The project integrates computational modelling and experimental optical systems to create simulated datasets and train Deep Learning models, with initial interviews scheduled.
Applications are invited for a Research Associate to join the University of Strathclyde as part of an industrially funded project by Strathclyde’s Advanced Forming Research Centre(AFRC) and the UK Research Centre in Non-Destructive Evaluation (RCNDE). You will be involved in a project to develop the world’s first laser ultrasound array system for real-time, remote and couplant-free ultrasonic micro structural characterisation of metallic parts using Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Dr Theodosia Stratoudaki.
This project has two core aims:
a)microstructural characterisation of metallic components based on laser ultrasound data acquisition
b) ultrasonic array imaging correction of the TotalFocusing Method toaccount for the microstructure.
This related research involvesequal levels of expertise incomputational methods for the development of simulateddatasets and training of Deep Learningmodels, as well as in the design and implementation ofexperimental optical systems for dataacquisition.
Initial interviews have been scheduled for a date to be confirmed.
For informal enquiries please contact DrTheodosia Stratoudaki at t.stratoudaki@strath.ac.uk
