Job summary

Nurturing Growth and Compassionate care Ltd is seeking a Post-16 Support Worker in Birmingham to help young people aged 16 and over develop independence and life skills. You will work one-to-one and in groups to support education, training, employment and personal development.

You will build trusting relationships, advocate for young people, coordinate with colleges and other professionals, and promote safeguarding and inclusive practice.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Empathetic, patient, and non-judgemental approach.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to promote independence while providing appropriate support.
• Understanding of safeguarding and the needs of vulnerable young people.
• Knowledge of education, employment pathways, apprenticeships and supported internships.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, professional relationships with young people and families.
• Provide one-to-one and group support tailored to individual needs.
• Support access to education, training, employment and volunteering.
• Develop independent living skills including budgeting, cooking, travel, appointments.
• Support with goal setting, action planning and personal development.
• Promote emotional wellbeing, resilience and self-confidence.
• Advocate for young people and ensure their views are represented.
• Liaise with colleges, employers, trainers, social workers and other agencies.
• Help access community resources and specialist services.
• Monitor progress, review plans, and maintain records.
• Safeguard young people and report concerns per policies.
