Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant for a Post-16 1:1 role. You will support a 16-year-old with additional medical needs, both in class and in the community, helping with study tasks and pastoral development.

The role is permanent, term-time only, with a 36-week teaching year and a start in September 2026. A resilient, patient approach and strong English/numeracy skills are essential to support students and families.

Qualifications

  • Experience providing 1:1 support to a student.
  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Knowledge and experience of behaviour management.
  • Strong written and spoken English; good numeracy.

Responsibilities

  • Support a 16-year-old student with additional medical needs in lessons and community activities.
  • Assist with classroom tasks, scribing, and study support.
  • Contribute to maintaining positive, nurturing learning environments and pastoral sessions.

Post-16 1:1/Learning Support AssistantThe role is a Permanent, Term-Time only role

Monday to Friday (08:30am – 17:00pm) (approx. 36 teaching weeks per annum)

No working required during school holidays

Salary from: £28,117 - £30,100 pro rata, depending on experience (£24,100 - £25,800 salary for term-time, 36 weeks pa)To Start: September 2026Our special outstanding school is constantly growing, providing a supportive, nurturing learning environment for more and more children. Due to this expansion, we have an opportunity for you to be a part of a multi-disciplinary team of dedicated friendly Teachers, Therapists and Learning Support Assistants. What the role involves: You will not find yourself getting bored in this role! Each day in Post-16 GOALS provision brings new challenges. The GOALS provision is a functional pathway design to develop students’ life skills and increase their level of independence. Students are given the opportunity to practically apply learnt skills both within the classroom and the local community. Your role may involve providing support for students within lessons in the classroom or out within the community. You’ll also help maintain the learning environments, assist with administration and participate in pastoral sessions, developing professional relationships with students in order to support their learning as well as their social and emotional development. Specifically in this role, you would be employed as a 1:1 for a 16-year-old young person with additional medical needs. The successful candidate would need to accompany them around school; work with them in directed study; scribe, have a good sense of humour and be willing to complete medical support training. The young person strives to be independent and looks for a good rapport with their support staff. This young person will be attending our Post 16 provision five days a week.

  • Comfortable with short-notice changes to established schedules when necessary
  • Good English (clear written and spoken English) and numeracy skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of behaviour management.
  • The ability to build good working relationships with children, teachers, parents and carers.
  • Experience of working with children with Special Education Needs (SEN), particularly children on the Autism Spectrum.
  • The ability to manage small groups of children with complex social communication needs.
  • The ability to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment is essential.
