Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support post-16 learners with a range of additional needs in a Rochdale sixth form. The role focuses on building independence, life skills and employability ahead of adulthood, with a supportive, inclusive learning environment.

You will provide one-to-one and small group support, help deliver personalised learning and community-based programmes, contribute to EHCP targets, and work closely with families, carers and external agencies

Contract Type: Full-time
Salary: £525 - £700 per week (dependent on experience and responsibilities)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

A specialist post‑16 provision based in Rochdale is looking for a Teaching Assistant to support young people aged 16‑19 with a range of additional needs. The sixth form draws students from across the wider school's secondary pathways and focuses on building independence, community inclusion, and employability skills ahead of adulthood.

What you'll do

• Provide one‑to‑one and small group support to post‑16 learners
• Help deliver personalised learning and community‑based programmes
• Support the development of independence, life skills, and social confidence
• Contribute to EHCP targets and individual planning
• Work closely with the wider team, families, and external agencies

What We're Looking For

• Experience working with young people with SEND, ideally in a school, residential, or community setting. A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to managing behaviour
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
• A commitment to helping pupils achieve independence and life success.
• A relevant qualification in support, care, or education is desirable but not essential

Eligibility Requirements

• Hold the Right to Work in the UK
• Have an enhanced child barred list DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply)
• Be able to provide two professional references (child‑related preferred)
