Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate Positive Behaviour Teaching Assistant to support learners with ASC in Bristol. This full-time, term-time role offers the chance to work in a specialist educational setting from September.

The successful candidate will contribute to tailored learning plans, behaviour strategies and emotional Regulation, while collaborating with teachers and therapists to foster inclusive learning.

Qualifications

  • Patience, empathy and a proactive approach to support autistic and neurodiverse learners.
  • Experience in care, youth support, psychology or education courses is beneficial.
  • A DBS check (Update Service) is desirable or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for children with ASC and other SEN.
  • Help implement tailored learning plans and behaviour intervention strategies.
  • Support emotional regulation, communication and social interaction.
  • Apply Positive Behaviour Support techniques under supervision.
  • Help maintain a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and wider support teams.
  • Encourage confidence, independence and positive outcomes for learners.

Positive Behaviour Teaching Assistant - Bristol

Location: Bristol

Hours: Full Time, Monday-Friday (term time)

Pay: £92.60 - £105 per day

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, patient and proactive Positive Behaviour Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Bristolon a full time basis from September. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), additional learning needs, and behavioural challenges.

The ideal candidate will bring a positive mindset and relevant experience from a teaching assistant background, care, youth work, psychology or education studies, sports coaching, or other peoplefocused roles.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide 1:1 and smallgroup support for children with ASC and other Special Educational Needs
  • Help implement tailored learning plans and behaviour intervention strategies
  • Support emotional regulation, communication skills and social interaction
  • Use Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) techniques under the guidance of senior practitioners
  • Help maintain a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and wider support teams
  • Encourage confidence, independence and positive outcomes for each learner

  • Experience from care, youth support, psychology or education courses, sports coaching, or similar roles
  • A genuine passion for supporting autistic and neurodiverse learners
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships
  • The ability to remain calm and supportive during challenging moments
  • A willingness to learn, develop and progress within the role
  • Reliability, teamwork and professionalism
  • A qualification is desirable but not essential
  • DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
