Job summary

Healthcare Ireland Group in Ballymena is seeking a Positive Behaviour Care Assistant to support residents with complex behavioural needs. The role focuses on person-centred care, daily living activities, and building trusting relationships in a safe, supportive environment.

You will work with the senior team to implement care plans, participate in training, and promote resident wellbeing through engaging activities and compassionate interaction.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to residents with complex behavioural needs.
• Assist with activities of daily living and routine tasks.
• Support senior and nursing team with care plans and activities.
• Promote safety by participating in learning and development programmes.
• Engage residents in activities to support mental stimulation and wellbeing.
• Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
• Undertake other duties as designated by the Home Manager.

The Home Join the Team at Braefield Court Braefield Court is a modern, purpose-built facility located in the picturesque village of Connor. Opened in November 2022, our seven-bedroom service has been thoughtfully designed with the needs of our residents at its core. We provide specialist support for adults living with Learning Disabilities, Autism, and Complex Needs. At Braefield Court, residents enjoy access to a wide range of local activities including horse riding, cycling, cinema trips, and dining out all with the support of our dedicated team, available 24 hours a day. The Role

The role of the Positive Behaviour Care Assistant is essential in our mission to provide excellent care. Positive Behaviour Care Assistants work closely with the senior team to meet the daily needs of residents using a positive behaviour, person centred approach., helping our residents fulfil their potential. At Healthcare Ireland we provide a comfortable environment for each resident with the highest quality of care. Positive Behaviour Care Assistants enable residents to have opportunities for life enrichment using an approach tailored to meet each residents needs and preferences in addition to promoting the highest possible quality of life.

• Provide direct care and support to residents with complex behavioural needs, including assisting with activities of daily living, behaviour management and emotional support.
• Establish rapport and build trusting relationships with residents, demonstrating empathy, patience and understanding in all interactions.
• Assist senior and nursing team members with care plans, tasks, and activities to support the residents wellbeing.
• Provide care in a safe environment through participation in learning and development programmes.
• Participate in activities, motivating and supporting residents to get involved, promoting mental stimulation, socialisation and emotional wellbeing.
• Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed, following established processes and ensuring resident safety and wellbeing.
• Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as designated by the Home Manager

Required Criteria

• To be a good listener, showing patience, compassion, empathy and understanding
• A good standard of written and oral English
• The Right to Work in the UK
• Desired Criteria
• Previous experience within a care setting
• At least 6 months experience working in a regulated care or support environment for people with learning disability or complex needs
• Educated to QCF level 3 or equivalent in Health and Social care
