Job summary

River Island is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance professional to join our engineering team at the Head Office in West London. You will be embedded in a scrum team, ensuring requirements are correct and tests cover all aspects of the product lifecycle.

As part of RI Tech, you will champion a shift-left approach, automate tests where cost‑effective, and collaborate with developers to improve software quality across microservices and a DevOps culture.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with agile quality assurance practices and test‑driven development.
• Strong automation experience using Java, C#, JS or TS in CI/CD environments.
• Knowledge of test data provisioning and management for testing.
• Experience planning, executing and validating tests across the full spectrum.
• Proficient in risk analysis and regression testing techniques.
• Familiarity with exploratory testing techniques and rapid software testing.
• Experience testing complex enterprise and web applications with databases.
• Scripting skills in Shell, Python or Groovy.
• Familiarity with JIRA/Confluence and HP ALM/Zephyr/XRay tooling.

Responsibilities

• Review and verify requirements and acceptance criteria for clarity.
• Embed as tester in a scrum team, estimate complexity and perform tests.
• Champion shift-left and in-sprint testing practices.
• Test across functional and non‑functional areas and UAT.
• Collaborate with developers on architecture to improve quality.
• Identify impediments and risks to quality or delivery.
• Automate tests cost‑effectively to ensure fit for purpose.
• Document defects clearly for reproducibility.
• Share knowledge with the team and stakeholders.
• Assist business users during UAT and ensure timely delivery.
