A leading MGA company in Birmingham is seeking a Commercial Underwriter to enhance profitability across product portfolios. The role involves using data insights for strategic decision-making and participating in innovative projects. Ideal candidates have strong underwriting skills in Property & Casualty, with added advantage for those familiar with MI tools. This position offers hybrid working and a company bonus scheme.

Qualifications

• Strong technical skills in Commercial Insurance Underwriting across mainly Property & Casualty lines of business.
• Experience of managing portfolio risk selection, MI analysis, Underwriting rules management and product development.
• Demonstratable ability to interpret and leverage data to drive strategic decisions.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Excellent knowledge of underwriting principles, risk selection and portfolio management.
• Knowledge and experience of MI tools and data visualisation platforms an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Drive the performance and profitability of your own product and scheme portfolios.
• Be an integral part of new and exciting projects to develop and enhance scheme propositions to the market.
• Use data driven insights to monitor performance, identify trends and make recommend adjustments to underwriting strategy, risk selection and pricing.
• Set clear strategies for regional underwriting units and support their implementation.
• Utilise market knowledge, extensive network and technical expertise to support business growth.
