Job summary

Jobtailor in Manchester seeks a senior risk professional to lead risk management across a portfolio of complex programmes. You will act as a subject matter expert, provide assurance, and drive risk reporting to executives, while developing teams in a matrix environment.

The role emphasises ISO 31000 practices, QRA excellence, and collaboration with enterprise risk colleagues. Nuclear or regulated infrastructure exposure is advantageous; BPSS, DBS, and probity checks are required.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience applying ISO 31000 and major programmes governance.
• Proven track record leading risk management on large-scale infrastructure, engineering, nuclear or similar.
• Strong expertise in Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) for cost and schedule.
• Experience across project controls including risk, planning, change and performance management.
• Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to influence at executive, programme and delivery team levels.
• Experience leading teams and fostering collaboration within matrix organisations.
• Ability to translate complex risk information into clear, actionable insights for decision-makers.
• Experience within the nuclear sector or other major regulated infrastructure programmes is advantageous.
• Professional certifications such as IRM Certificate/Diploma or equivalent are advantageous.
• Applicants must obtain BPSS clearance, DBS check and basic financial probity checks.

Responsibilities

• Lead risk management activities across a portfolio of complex programmes and projects.
• Promote consistent application and continuous improvement of the risk management framework and processes.
• Act as the subject matter expert for risk management, providing assurance, guidance and challenge.
• Deliver portfolio and programme risk reporting to senior stakeholders and executive leadership teams.
• Lead Quantitative Risk Analysis activities across cost and schedule risk disciplines.
• Support enhanced risk analytics, data-driven insights and AI-enabled risk management capabilities.
• Oversee the administration and effectiveness of the RMIS.
• Develop and mentor Risk Managers, Senior Risk Analysts and Risk Champions within a matrix environment.
