Job summary

Markel International in Leeds is seeking a Portfolio Analyst to join the newly created Portfolio Management & Pricing function. You will provide data, insight and analytical support to portfolio management and pricing activity across the business.

Qualifications

• A degree in a numerical discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Physics or Data Science.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using SQL, Python, Databricks or similar data tools.
• The ability to manipulate and interpret large datasets.
• Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage with stakeholders.
• A desire to learn, develop and take ownership of your work.

Responsibilities

• Extracting, analysing and interpreting data from multiple sources.
• Supporting portfolio performance and profitability analysis.
• Producing management information and reporting packs.
• Assisting with Quarterly Business Reviews and strategic reporting.
• Supporting pricing model calibration and performance monitoring.

What You’ll Be Doing:

What We're Looking For:

We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, enjoys working with data and wants to build a long-term career in analytics, pricing or portfolio management.

You'll likely have:
