Job summary

2gether Support Solutions Limited seeks a Porter to support NHS hospital operations in Margate. You will reliably transport patients, equipment, and documents throughout wards and theatres, handle mail and lab results, and assist with deceased patients respectfully.

The role is 19.5 hours per week on a four-month fixed-term contract with daytime, evening and weekend shifts. The ideal candidate is physically fit, reliable, capable of lifting and moving items, and can communicate clearly with

About Us2gether Support Solutions is a Facilities and Estates services company providing support to healthcare professionals caring for over 2000 patients daily across multiple East Kent hospital sites. 2gether provides vital services including maintenance, cleaning, catering, procurement, logistics and much more.

The Role:

Porters are the heartbeat of NHS hospitals, making sure crucial goods and items are delivered where they are needed most. They also make sure patients are at the right place at the right time to get the treatment they need. You will provide essential support in the hospital environment by safely and efficiently transporting patients, equipment, and materials to various departments, ensuring a high standard of care and operational efficiency.

This role is working 19.5 hours per week, on a 4 month Fixed-Term Contract, covering both daytime, evening and weekend shifts.

Main Duties:

• Safely transport patients to and from wards, departments, and operating theatres.
• Move medical equipment, supplies, and specimens between departments.
• Ensure cleanliness and hygiene of transport equipment.
• Assist with the handling of deceased patients in a respectful manner.
• Deliver mail, lab results, and other documents as required.
• Comply with the Trust infection and control and health and safety policiesTo liaise with colleagues and patients

The Person:

The ideal candidate will be physically fit, able to perform tasks involving lifting and moving patients and equipment, and possess clear verbal communication skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, and visitors. They should demonstrate strong teamwork, reliability, compassion, and sensitivity to patient privacy. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, and basic literacy and numeracy skills to follow instructions and complete documentation are also essential. A proficient level of reading, verbal, and written English is required for this role to ensure effective communication and job performance.
