The Centre for Economic Transition Expertise (CETEx) is a policy research centre within the Global School of Sustainability at LSE. By combining academic research with practical policy expertise, CETEx helps decision-makers implement effective climate, nature and economic transition reforms around the world.

CETEx is seeking a Policy Fellow to lead an ambitious programme of research and technical support focused on economic and fiscal policy and its interlinkages with monetary and financial-supervisor policymaking in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, with the opportunity to work in other emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs). CETEx is seeking to appoint a Policy Fellow to work within the EMDEs pillar of the centre, conduct research, develop policies and lead engagements that help policymakers develop and implement policies that accelerate an inclusive, low-carbon and climate-resilient transition. Furthermore, the postholder will have excellent and demonstrable understanding of the impact of environmental risks and opportunities on macroeconomic variables such as GDP, employment, prices, fiscal revenues, fiscal expenditure, debt sustainability and broader macroeconomic stability measures. Experience working on environment-related policy issues in Southeast Asia, with Indonesia in focus, and Excellent understanding of public finance and fiscal policy levers that can be used to support a low-carbon and climate-resilient transition, such as blended finance mechanisms, carbon taxes and credits, tax breaks and subsidies and other (dis)incentives, with broader fiscal – monetary interlinkage are essential in this role.
