Job summary

Essex & Kent Police is recruiting a Property Assistant based at North Kent Police Station. The role involves receiving, logging and storing seized property, updating movements on the police system and ensuring retention is kept to a minimum.

A full UK driving licence is essential, with occasional countywide store coverage. The position is permanent and full-time with a standard Monday–Friday pattern; part-time options may be considered.

Qualifications

• This role requires a good standard of education (GCSEs or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Good IT literacy and ability to use common software packages.
• Basic understanding of health & safety practices and manual handling.

Responsibilities

• Receive, log and store seized property and update movements on the police system.
• Assess retention needs and arrange return or disposal where appropriate.
• Consult with the Property Team Leader on items suitable for auction or disposal.
• Plan and organise tasks, prioritise work, and maintain customer service standards.
• Operate within a team or unsupervised as required and follow training in bespoke software.
