Job summary

West London NHS Trust seeks an experienced Mental Health Nurse for a 0.5 WTE Band 7 Police Liaison and Diversion Practitioner role across Metropolitan Police custody suites in Acton and Hammersmith. You will identify mental health needs, assess risk, and facilitate diversion to health, social care and community services.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes for vulnerable people, applying MHA/MCA, and liaising with police and partners to reduce reoffending.

Qualifications

• Qualified RMN with current registration or equivalent, including SALT.
• Meaningful CPD and post-registration training.
• Experience in multi-disciplinary/multi-agency teams.
• Experience of crisis work and risk assessment/management.
• Application of MHA 2007 and MCA 2005.

Responsibilities

• Screening and assessment in Police custody settings to identify needs.
• Provide advice, signposting and referrals; facilitate diversion to services.
• Undertake mental health and risk assessments with multi-agency partners.
• Work with Police, health, social care and voluntary sector to improve outcomes.
• Ensure safeguarding and high standards of professional practice.
