Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is recruiting an Advanced Nurse Practitioner for Police Custody Health Care (PCHC) at Govan Police Station, Glasgow. The role delivers clinical case management, triage, assessment, treatment and care review for forensic healthcare in police custody, working with Police Scotland and COPFS.

Applicants will hold NMC registration, prescriber status, and an MSc in Advanced Practice, with significant post-registration experience and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse on the NMC Register.
• Be recorded as a Nurse Independent/Supplementary Prescriber (V300) with the NMC.
• An appropriate Masters level qualification in Advanced Practice enabling competence in clinical assessment and diagnostic decision making.

Responsibilities

• Triage and clinically assess patients, prioritise clinical need and refer for medical intervention when needed.
• Take comprehensive histories, perform assessments and clinical examinations.
• Initiate investigations to improve access to treatment.
• Screen patients using clinical assessments, lab results, X-rays and electronic records.
• Initiate drug therapy within guidelines and non-medical prescriber rules.
• Conduct diagnostic/therapeutic procedures as appropriate.
• Lead clinical audits and contribute to research for continuous improvement in care.
