Job summary

NHS Scotland is advertising a Band 6 Podiatrist post based at Portree Hospital, Isle of Skye. The role welcomes recent graduates who wish to enhance clinical skills and may include a substantial mentorship period covering advanced techniques as required.

Key areas include nail surgery, Post Tibial blocks, deep enucleations, verrucae management, and MSK/podiatry wound care for high-risk limbs. HCPC registration and a BSc in Podiatric Medicine are essential.

• Willingness to undertake mentorship and develop advanced clinical techniques

Responsibilities

• Mentorship period covering clinical techniques as required, including nail surgery, Post Tibial blocks, deep enucleations, needling and dissections of verrucae.
• MSK podiatry and wound care management of high risk limbs.
• Demonstrate sound professional and clinical knowledge with governance and strong interpersonal skills; manage workload prioritisation and planning.
• Hold a full, current driving license and operate at Portree Hospital on the Isle of Skye.

This is an exciting post also open to recent graduates who may wish to increase their clinical skills.

This post may incorporate a significant period of mentorship covering clinical techniques in advance of those usually experienced at college as required. These will include

• extensive nail surgery experience
• Post Tibial blocks
• deep enucleations
• needling / blunt dissections of verrucae
• MSK podiatry and wound care management of the high risk limb

No previous experience is necessary although an understanding of the philosophy of care aims is desirable.

You will have a BSc qualification in Podiatric Medicine and be qualified in L.A and nail surgery, along with registration with the HCPC.

The workbase is at Portee Hospital based on Isle of Skye which is about 2 hours 30 minutes drive from the Highland capital Inverness.

You will be able to demonstrate a sound professional and clinical knowledge, with understanding of clinical governance, and its application. Of greatest importance is an ability to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to prioritise, plan and organise your workload, are also essential requirements along with a full, current driving license.
