Job summary

Western Health And Social Care Trust in Londonderry, County Londonderry, is seeking an Associate Practitioner - Point of Care Testing (POCT) Band 4 on a temporary basis. The role focuses on maintaining POCT equipment, training staff, quality assurance and troubleshooting to support clinical service delivery.

Qualifications

• Five GCSEs including English Language and a science subject.
• Two A Levels or equivalent including a science subject, plus one year of laboratory/clinical experience.
• NVQ Level 3 in a science-related subject or BTEC National Diploma, plus one year of laboratory/clinical experience.
• At least four years of laboratory or clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the POCT team and service users with point of care testing equipment.
• Train medical, nursing and laboratory staff in the safe use of POCT devices.
• Maintain, monitor and troubleshoot POCT equipment; report faults.
• Maintain databases, equipment registers, training records and SOPs.
• Distribute QA samples, collate data and report results.
• Participate in audits and quality management activities.
• Maintain stocks of POCT consumables and liaise with suppliers.
• Support equipment evaluations and staff competency assessments.
