We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality. We know diverse minds, experiences, and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our customers and the communities where they live.

At Severn Trent, we’re on a mission to deliver sustainable, forward-thinking infrastructure that safeguards our environment and enhances the communities we serve. We’re now looking for a driven PMO Project Controller to play a pivotal role in the success of our SRO & Property Investment Programme – a high-profile portfolio of critical projects.

As our PMO Project Controller, you’ll be at the heart of the Programme Management Office, working closely with delivery, environmental, assurance, and governance teams – both in-house and externally. You’ll be the go-to expert for risk, change, assurance, and insightful reporting, helping steer projects to successful outcomes through sharp analysis and strategic foresight. This is your chance to bring clarity to complexity and make a real impact.

Some of your other key accountabilities include :

  • Lead on the implementation of PMO policies and procedures covering risk, change, assurance, analysis, and reporting, and ensure they are embedded and adhered to.
  • Be the PMO Champion for Risk Management, change reporting, cost planning, and assurance management.
  • Support the programme in managing and mitigating key threats whilst identifying and exploiting opportunities.
  • Responsible for our SRO reporting insight, providing accurate and data-driven commentary in monthly reports to highlight areas of concern and escalation. Ensure commentary is proactively risk-driven with a clear focus on impact and mitigations.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement on PMO processes, welcoming change, and promoting PMO as the centre of excellence.
  • Sound understanding of project scheduling principles (Critical path, baseline, milestone tracking) to interpret schedule information and challenge where required.
  • Lead on the monthly SRO Risk Review meetings, ensuring quality, accuracy, and adherence to the risk management process.
  • Manage and lead the assurance and governance process required as part of the SRO Regulatory Submission.
  • Present key project insights to senior leaders.
  • Provide PMO support to our Property Delivery Programme.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

We’re seeking a PMO Project Controller comfortable driving a culture of continuous improvement on PMO processes, welcoming change, and promoting PMO as the centre of excellence with:

  • Excellent experience in PMO controls (risk, change, assurance).
  • Working knowledge of planning software including OPC, Microsoft Project, and/or Primavera P6.
  • Experience of working in a busy, fast-paced programme environment with the ability to deliver project milestones within tight timescales.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence to challenge project team members and external suppliers to ensure project schedules are maintained to agreed timescales and quality standards, risks are managed, assurance is followed, and reporting and governance are clear and concise.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint), Power BI, and other specialist tools.
  • Experience building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ideally, you’ll have or be working towards a qualification/membership of an appropriate professional body (APM/Prince2).

The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity, and a caring attitude, we want to talk to you too.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality, as we know diverse minds, experiences, and backgrounds help us learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up, get involved, and are ready to be part of something bigger and make a difference because they care.Is that you?
