The successful candidate will provide high-quality coordination, governance and administrative support across the Digital Delivery portfolio. You will work with Project and Programme Managers, Finance, suppliers and business stakeholders to keep project information accurate, governance effective and delivery activity visible.
Strong practical Microsoft 365 capability is important. We also want someone who is keen to use AI and automation responsibly to simplify PMO activity, improve data quality and reduce manual effort. Experience of ServiceNow strategic Portfolio Management is beneficial, but it is not essential.
Northern Powergrid powers everyday life for 8 million customers across 3.9 million homes and businesses in the North East, Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. As the energy system evolves, Digital Delivery helps provide the technology, information and change capability needed to support a resilient, efficient and future-ready network.
Alongside a competitive salary of £40,000 - £45,000 we also offer:
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Up to 10% performance bonus
- A role with broad exposure across Digital Delivery and clear opportunities to develop PMO, project, data and automation capability.
What you will do:
Project and portfolio governance
- Coordinate project and programme governance meetings, including schedules, agendas, papers, decisions and actions.
- Support governance gateways, assurance reviews and approval processes.
- Maintain clear, auditable evidence of decisions, approvals and actions.
- Monitor compliance with Northern Powergrid project standards, processes and controls, highlighting gaps and helping teams address them
Portfolio reporting and project controls
- Coordinate and quality-check portfolio and project status reporting.
- Maintain accurate information on milestones, risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, decisions and actions.
- Support dashboards, KPIs and management reporting that give leaders a clear view of delivery performance.
- Follow up incomplete or late updates and work constructively with delivery teams to improve data quality.
Project systems and information
- Help administer project records within ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM), or learn to do so through role-based support and training.
- Work with Project Managers to keep project information complete, current and consistent.
- Maintain project and programme registers, templates, records and controlled documentation.
- Use SharePoint effectively, applying clear file structures, naming conventions and version control
Project delivery and financial support
- Provide practical PMO guidance and coordination to Project and Programme Managers.
- Track actions, milestones and agreed deliverables through to completion.
- Support project mobilisation, onboarding, governance and closure activities.
- Help maintain accurate purchase order, invoice, accrual, forecast and budget information, working with Finance and delivery colleagues.
AI, automation and continuous improvement
- Identify repetitive PMO activities that could be simplified, standardised or automated.
- Use Microsoft 365 tools confidently and explore the responsible use of Microsoft Copilot, Power Automate and other approved capabilities to improve reporting, information management and team productivity.
- Test and document practical improvements, with appropriate controls, human review and protection of company information.
- Help improve PMO processes, templates, guidance and ways of working, sharing lessons learned and good practice.
