Job summary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEN school in Edgware, NW London. You will support pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties, helping them engage with learning and participate in daily classroom activities.

The role requires patience, empathy and an understanding of complex needs. DBS checks are required, with a view to long-term, possibly permanent employment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with PMLD or complex needs.
• Ability to adapt communication and support approaches to individual needs.
• Willingness to work full-time long-term, with possible permanent role.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with PMLD.
• Assist with sensory-based learning activities tailored to abilities.
• Support pupils with complex communication needs to encourage interaction.
• Help implement individual education plans and targets.
• Promote independence and participation in routines and activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff to maintain consistent approaches.
• Respond to pupils' emotional, sensory and communication needs.
• Monitor engagement and share progress observations with staff.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment and safeguarding practices.
