Job summary

Sense Education in Whitehaven is seeking a dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to support primary and secondary students with complex needs in our specialist unit. You will work 1:1 or in small groups, delivering tailored learning activities and safeguarding students in a compassionate, patient manner.

Qualifications

• A recognised childcare qualification or equivalent.
• Current DBS with Update Service.
• Knowledge or experience working with SEND.
• Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.

Responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in providing tailored learning experiences for students.
• Support students with PMLD through sensory-based and communication-led activities.
• Provide personal care and mobility support where required.
• Behaviour and pastoral support.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students.
• Safeguard and ensure student safety in all activities.
