Are you looking for a rewarding career change from care into education? We are recruiting for a PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 4–11 in a welcoming special primary school in Skelmersdale.
This role is ideal for someone with a background in care, support work, or health services who is passionate about making a difference in children’s lives. You will be part of a dedicated team that provides high levels of support, encouragement, and care to pupils with complex needs, including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and severe learning difficulties.
The Role:
Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with PMLD
Assisting with personal care needs and therapy programmes
Supporting pupils’ communication and engagement through sensory approaches
Working closely with teaching staff and therapists to deliver tailored learning and care plans
Promoting independence and a positive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate:
Experience in a care, support, or healthcare setting (no previous school experience necessary)
A nurturing, patient, and resilient attitude
Comfortable supporting with personal care and physical needs
Willing to learn and adapt to different communication and learning methods
Committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of children
Full training and support provided

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
