Long Term Futures is recruiting a dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Edgware, North West London. The role involves supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), helping them engage with learning, develop communication skills and participate in daily classroom activities.
We are looking for someone who brings patience, empathy and a practical understanding of supporting individuals with complex additional needs. Whether your experience comes from a specialist school, SEN provision or a relevant care setting, this could be an excellent opportunity to apply your skills in a rewarding educational environment.
Previous experience working directly with pupils with PMLD in a specialist school would be particularly advantageous. Knowledge of sensory learning approaches, Makaton, the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) or other alternative and augmentative communication methods would also be beneficial, although these are not essential.
Suitable applicants will be contacted to discuss their experience, availability and suitability for the position. Successful progression through the initial screening stage will involve registration and compliance checks, followed by a school interview or trial day where applicable.
This is a long-term, temporary-to-permanent opportunity, offering the possibility of securing a permanent position for the right candidate, subject to school requirements and performance.
By applying, you agree to Long Term Futures processing your CV and personal information for recruitment purposes in accordance with its privacy policy.
