Job summary

Aspiring SEND Teaching Assistant role in Oxford is open for ASAP / September 2026 start. This school offers full-time or part-time opportunities, and you will support students with PMLD in a 1:1 and small-group setting.

You will work closely with teachers and specialists to adapt learning activities, promote communication and independence, and help create a calm, nurturing classroom environment. Prior experience with SEND/PMLD is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience working with SEND or PMLD is desirable.
• Ability to support 1:1 and small groups in class.
• Strong communication with teachers, therapists and pupils.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students with PMLD and complex needs.
• Supporting students with learning, communication and personal development.
• Using a range of communication approaches, including visual aids, symbols and sensory-based activities.
• Helping students engage with classroom activities and wider environment.
• Supporting students with personal care and mobility where required.
• Working closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to deliver personalised support.
• Promoting students' confidence, independence and wellbeing.
• Creating a calm, safe and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
