Job summary

Connex Education is seeking a Complex Needs & PMLD Teaching Assistant in North Somerset. The role offers flexible supply with day-to-day and long-term options, full-time or part-time hours, and a daily rate of £100–£120 depending on experience.

You will support pupils with CLDD, SLD and PMLD, work in multidisciplinary teams, and help students access an individualised curriculum in safe, nurturing environments.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with PMLD, SLD or complex needs in education, care or support settings.
• Comfortable providing personal care and toileting support.
• Patient, compassionate and resilient with a passion for supporting pupils with complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with profound and complex learning needs inside and outside the classroom.
• Assist with personalised activities to promote communication, independence and engagement.
• Provide personal care with dignity and safeguarding in mind.
• Support pupils during therapy sessions, sensory activities and interventions.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and nurses to deliver holistic support.
• Use PECS, Makaton or visual resources to encourage participation.
• Assist early communication, literacy and phonics development where appropriate.
• Contribute to a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
