Dewis Centre for Independent Living is seeking a part-time Personal Assistant to support an individual in Pontyclun and community settings. The role includes driving, assisting with letters and paperwork, and helping with technology and light gardening.
The post involves a DBS check, right to work in the UK verification, and an initial trial period. Earnings are paid monthly with holiday pay provided.
I am a lady in my early 60s living in the area of Pontyclun who loves rugby, appreciates good company, and lives life with a sharp and positive sense of humour.
Following a few historical strokes, I am now a wheelchair user and cannot walk very far, but I don't let that dull my spirits. The stroke left me with Aphasia, which is a neurological language disorder. While doesn’t affect ability to speak, write, and understand language, it can affect my comprehension and my ability to make a choice.
I also have right-side vision loss, which means I can no longer drive, and I get quite severe headaches if I try to push myself too hard with heavy paperwork and admin. Because of this, I like my home to be kept highly organised so everything has its place so I know where it is.
I share my home with my dog, who is incredibly loyal and takes her job of keeping me safe very seriously. She will bark at first, so you will need to be confident with animals and patient enough to build a friendship with her. I am looking for someone who can laugh with me, understand my changing daily needs, and look past my limitations to see the independent person I am.
I need someone who is a confident driver as I enjoy going different places where I can. I’d like to get out more and see new things.
At my home address and within the wider community.
