Dewis Centre for Independent Living is seeking a part-time personal assistant in Mountain Ash to support a 6-year-old child in the community, including trips to the park, swimming, and local activities.
The role requires a driver with own vehicle, patience, reliability, and the ability to be present in the moment. DBS check and right to work in the UK will be completed before employment.
Flexible hours, 6 hours per week over two days, with mileage paid when using own car.
I am a 6-year-old boy living in the Mountain Ash area. I would like a Personal assistant to take me out in the community and to support me doing the things I enjoy doing which includes going to Dragons Den or just to the local park. I would also like to go swimming and would like you to join me.
At the moment I am having tests for Autism and ADHD but that hasn’t stopped me from being me. I am a typical 6-year-old and am very verbal with what I want and don’t want. I have no road sense so would have to hold my hand when we are out in the community. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with big crowds or loud noise, but my face will tell you if I am not comfortable in a situation and I will also make you aware.
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid 4 weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.
The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK
