Dewis Centre for Independent Living is seeking a part-time Personal Assistant to support a child in Glyncoch, Pontypridd, Wales. The role involves community outings, supervision outdoors, and helping with daily living activities. A full UK driver’s license and access to a car are essential.

The position includes paying £16.00 per hour, with mileage allowance of £0.40 per mile, and will be paid monthly. DBS check and right-to-work verification are required, with a trial period at start.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Part-Time Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I’m a 9-year-old boy living in Glyncoch with my family. I have a number of health conditions and also Global Developmental Delay and Autism. I am non-verbal and wear incontinence pads day and night.

I love everything to do with the outdoors especially open spaces where I can run, such as parks. A pushchair and harness is used when out in the community. Sometimes my legs can 'give in' and that’s when I’ll use the pushchair.

I love the beach and water and also my iPad and comfy blanket goes everywhere with me.

PURPOSE OF JOB

To support me out in the community, encourage my independence and living skills. Also to ensure my mum knows I am safe.

HOURS OF WORK

6 hours per week, during school holidays only

RATE OF PAY

£16.00 per hour and 0.40p a mile.

TASKS INVOLVED

• Supporting me when out in my local community
• Outdoor based activities
• Using your car to take me places of my choice
• Encourage my Independence, living and social skills
• Ensuring my safety at all times
• Assist with changing incontinence pads / personal care

ABOUT THE JOB

This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.

All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.

Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.

Wages will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
