Job summary

Dovetail and Slate seeks a Plumbing Tutor for on-site delivery at HMP Wayland. You will teach plumbing up to Level 2 to prison-based learners, developing practical pipework skills and workplace discipline to aid employment on release.

Applicants should hold a Level 2 Plumbing or Domestic Heating qualification with hands-on plumbing experience. Training potential and funding support are provided during probation. This permanent, full-time role is based at the custody site.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering vocational or on‑the‑job trade training.
• Ability to engage diverse learners using varied teaching methods.
• Teaching qualification desirable; support to achieve during probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver plumbing training up to Level 2 for small groups.
• Create individual training plans and provide ongoing guidance and feedback.
• Instill safety standards, water regulations, tool control and workshop cleanliness.
• Track learner progress and maintain course documentation per awarding body requirements.
• Support rehabilitation by enabling work-readiness and post-release opportunities.
