Job summary

Dovetail and Slate is recruiting a Vocational Construction Tutor to deliver practical construction training at HMP Onley, Rugby. You will work with small groups of prison-based learners to build trade skills, confidence, and job-readiness for post-release employment in the building sector.

You'll plan hands-on sessions, assess progress, and maintain safety and security compliance while inspiring learners with diverse backgrounds to achieve qualifications and positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Essential Level 2 or Level 3 vocational qualification in construction.
• GCSE or Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English.
• Substantial hands-on construction industry experience.
• Teaching qualification desirable; willing to train on the job.
• Strong communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver practical construction sessions tailored to learners' needs.
• Inspire and mentor learners with diverse educational backgrounds.
• Create individualized learning plans and provide feedback.
• Maintain health and safety standards and prison security protocols.
• Prepare learners for entry into construction roles after release.
