Job summary

Smart Energy Training is seeking a hands-on Plumbing Trainer to join our Ashbourne & Nottingham training centres. You’ll deliver engaging plumbing training and plan lessons aligned with qualification standards, while supporting learners through practical workshops and classroom sessions.

Qualifications

• Level 2 NVQ qualification in Plumbing is essential.
• Level 3 NVQ in Plumbing is desirable.
• Teaching qualifications (AET/DET/PGCE/TAQA or equivalent) – training can be provided.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality plumbing training to apprentices.
• Plan and deliver structured lessons aligned with qualification standards.
• Provide one-to-one and small group learner support.
• Support learners through practical workshops and classroom sessions.
• Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of learner progress and attendance.
• Collaborate with employers and internal teams to support learners.
• Create a positive, inclusive, learning environment.
• Keep up to date with industry developments in plumbing, heating and gas.

We’re looking for a hands-on and enthusiastic Plumbing Trainer to join our expert team at our purpose-built Ashbourne & Nottingham training centres.

What you’ll be doing

• Delivering engaging, high-quality training to plumbing apprentices
• Planning and delivering structured lessons aligned with qualification standards

• Supporting learners through practical workshop sessions and classroom learning
• Assessing learner progress and providing constructive feedback
• Maintaining accurate records of learner progress and attendance

• Keeping up to date with industry developments and best practice within plumbing, heating, and gas

What we’re looking for

• Level 2 NVQ qualification in Plumbing (essential), Level 3 NVQ (desirable)
• Strong industry experience in plumbing
• A passion for supporting and developing the next generation of tradespeople
• Confident communication skills and the ability to engage learners effectively
• A patient, supportive, and learner-focused approach
• Teaching and/or assessing qualifications (AET, DET, PGCE, TAQA or equivalent) – training can be provided (desirable)

Salary and benefits

• Salary up to £42,000 plus bonus (dependent on experience and qualifications)
• 37.5 hours per week (typically Monday to Friday)
• 25 days’ holiday plus public and bank holidays, Birthday and Christmas Eve leave
