Job summary

Northamptonshire college is seeking an experienced Plumbing & Heating Trainer to move from industry into education. You will deliver teaching across full-time, part-time and short courses, covering theory and practical sessions, and act as course tutor while monitoring attendance and progress.

The role requires Level 3 qualification or equivalent and a willingness to work towards teaching credentials; strong industry knowledge and excellent communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Level 3 professional qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of the construction / building services industry.
• Hold, or be willing to work towards, a Diploma in Teaching and Learning / Certificate in Education or equivalent.
• Minimum GCSE grade C / Level 2 equivalent in English and Maths.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Able to motivate, inspire and support learners to successful outcomes.
• Organised, flexible and able to manage time effectively.
• Strong team player with a positive and adaptable approach.
• Committed to CPD, safeguarding, health & safety and putting learners first.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Plumbing & Heating teaching and training across full-time, part-time and short courses.
• Teach practical and theory-based sessions to students and trainees.
• Act as course tutor for groups of learners, supporting attendance, progress and achievement.
• Plan, deliver and evaluate high-quality, motivational and inclusive learning experiences.
• Support learners with discipline, pastoral guidance and progression.
• Participate in practical demonstrations and workshop-based activities.
• Contribute to the development of Plumbing & Heating courses in line with industry demand.
• Support internal verification, auditing and quality monitoring processes.
• Assist with the maintenance and development of teaching resources.
• Participate in student recruitment activities, including shows, open days and career events.
• Promote safeguarding, Health & safety, student conduct and equality, diversity and inclusion.
• 37 hours per week, with occasional evening or weekend work when required.
