Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd seeks a Plumbing & Gas Assessor to support apprenticeship delivery in the East Midlands. You will assess apprentices against industry standards, guide learners through portfolio development, and conduct workplace observations with employers to ensure timely progression.

Experience in plumbing, domestic heating or gas and a valid Gas Safe registration are essential. Applicants may not yet hold an assessor qualification but should be willing to pursue the CAVA/A1/D32-D33

Qualifications

• Must hold Level 3 Plumbing/Domestic Heating/Gas
• Gas Safe registration required
• Maths and English at Level 2 or GCSE C or equivalent
• Experience of apprenticeship or vocational training desirable
• Assessor qualification (CAVA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent) desirable

Responsibilities

• Assess apprentices against industry standards and qualification requirements
• Support learners with evidence gathering and portfolio development
• Carry out workplace observations and progress reviews with apprentices and employers
• Make fair and accurate assessment decisions and provide constructive feedback
• Maintain accurate learner records and documentation
• Work with curriculum teams and employers to support apprenticeship delivery
• Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge through ongoing professional development

Are you an experienced plumbing or gas professional looking to pass your skills on to the next generation of tradespeople?

About the Role

A further education provider in the East Midlands is looking for a Plumbing & Gas Assessor to support apprenticeship delivery and learner progression.

You’ll assess apprentices against industry standards, providing guidance, feedback and support throughout their apprenticeship journey. You’ll work closely with employers and curriculum colleagues to make sure learners achieve their qualifications and build the skills the industry expects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assessing apprentices against industry standards and qualification requirements.

What We’re Looking For

• Level 3 qualification in Plumbing, Domestic Heating and Gas
• Valid Gas Safe registration
• Recent hands‑on industry experience
• Maths and English at Level 2 / GCSE Grade C or equivalent
• Confident IT and digital skills
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Ability to motivate and support learners of varying abilities

Desirable (but not essential):

• An assessing qualification (CAVA, A1, D32/D33 or equivalent)
• Experience of apprenticeship or vocational training
