Job summary

Dovetail and Slate is seeking a Gas Tutor to join a further education provider in the East of England. You will deliver training and assessment to Gas apprentices, helping them progress through practical and theoretical learning as they work toward qualifications.

You’ll collaborate with employers and learners, supporting EPA readiness, tracking progress, and promoting safe, professional practice within a supportive training environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Gas or Plumbing & Heating.
• Minimum 2 years' industry experience in Gas installation or maintenance.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Flexible and adaptable approach.

Responsibilities

• Delivering training and assessment to Gas apprentices.
• Supporting learners preparing for End Point Assessment (EPA).
• Monitoring learner progress and conducting reviews with employers.
• Maintaining learner tracking and off-the-job training records.
• Building relationships with employers to support workplace learning.
• Promoting safe working practices and professional behaviours.
• Acting as a positive role model within the training environment.

Are you an experienced Gas engineer looking to pass on your skills to the next generation of apprentices?

About the Role

You’ll join a further education provider to deliver training and assessment to Gas apprentices, supporting them through both practical and theoretical learning as they work towards successful completion of their qualifications.

Working closely with employers and learners, you’ll help apprentices build the technical knowledge, behaviours and confidence they need to succeed in the industry. If you’re coming from industry rather than teaching, full support is available to help you gain a teaching qualification alongside your training role.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering training and assessment to Gas apprentices.
• Supporting learners preparing for End Point Assessment (EPA).
• Monitoring learner progress and completing regular reviews with employers and apprentices.
• Maintaining accurate learner tracking and off-the-job training records.
• Building strong relationships with employers to support workplace learning.
• Promoting safe working practices and professional behaviours.
• Acting as a positive role model within the training environment.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Gas or Plumbing & Heating
• Minimum 2 years' industry experience within Gas installation or maintenance
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Flexible and adaptable approach

Desirable (but not essential):

• Teaching, assessing or training experience
• Experience mentoring or supporting apprentices
